Après Ski Christmas Party Styling for Corporate Events in London & Essex
Christmas event planning often starts with a broad idea rather than a finished design. A client may know they want something wintery, atmospheric or interactive, but the job is to turn that initial direction into a concept that works for the venue, the guest experience and the available budget.
At Rock The Day, that is often where our involvement begins.
For one of our current Christmas styling directions, we have been developing an Après Ski theme for corporate parties and winter events. It is a concept that works well for venues in London and Essex because it can be scaled easily, from a few strong feature areas through to full venue styling.
The aim is not simply to fill a room with Christmas props. It is to create a clear visual identity that feels considered from the moment guests arrive.
Starting with the atmosphere

When we develop a Christmas event concept, we usually begin with the overall atmosphere rather than individual hire items.
For Après Ski, that means combining the colder visual elements of a winter landscape with warmer, more social areas. Snow-covered Christmas trees, illuminated birch trees, mountain scenery and ski props create the setting, while warm lighting, garlands, timber textures, sheepskins and softer lounge areas make the space feel inviting.
That contrast is what makes the theme work.
It gives corporate event planners the opportunity to create something immersive without making the venue feel overly themed or theatrical.
Creating one strong focal point

For larger corporate Christmas parties, we usually recommend building the styling around one or two memorable features.
A cable car photo opportunity is a good example. Surrounded by snowy trees, skis and winter props, it immediately communicates the Après Ski theme and gives guests something interactive to engage with.
For event agencies, this kind of feature is also useful because it photographs well, encourages guest-generated content and gives the event a recognisable visual moment.

Rather than spreading the budget too thinly across a large number of small decorations, we often find that one strong installation supported by carefully placed styling throughout the venue creates a much better result.
Designing around the venue

The venue always influences the proposal.
Before finalising a Christmas styling scheme, we look at the floor plan, entrances, existing architectural features, bars, staircases, guest circulation and areas that naturally attract attention.
A long handrail, for example, can become part of the styling with illuminated Christmas garlands. A bar can be developed into an Après Ski drinks area. An otherwise empty corner can become a winter forest or photo opportunity.
This is particularly important for corporate event styling in London, where venues often already have a strong visual identity of their own.
The objective is not to cover the room. It is to identify the areas where décor will make the greatest difference.
Adding hospitality into the concept

Après Ski is naturally a social theme, so food and drink areas can become part of the design rather than being treated separately.
A hot chocolate station, winter drinks bar or rustic serving area can help reinforce the concept while still performing a practical role during the event.
Timber furniture, glassware, greenery, winter foliage and simple signage can turn a functional station into a styled feature without needing a completely separate installation.
For corporate Christmas events, we particularly like elements that work on both levels — decorative enough to contribute to the overall look, but useful enough to justify their place within the event.
The details that connect everything

Once the main areas are established, we look at the smaller details that carry the theme through the rest of the venue.
Garlands, warm lighting, pinecones, berries, woodland details, winter table décor and carefully placed props can connect one area to another without making every part of the event look identical.
Table styling can also reference the wider concept more subtly. Instead of repeating obvious ski props on every table, natural materials, glass, metallic details, candlelight and woodland references can give a winter feel while keeping the dining areas more refined.
This is particularly useful when an event needs to feel festive but still appropriate for a corporate audience.
Real props, existing stock and bespoke elements

Another important part of preparing a Christmas event proposal is deciding what should come from our existing hire collection and where a bespoke element would add more value.
Using existing stock keeps a project efficient, but bespoke props can be useful when an agency or client wants a stronger branded moment or something specifically designed around the venue.
For an Après Ski event, that could include signage, a custom photo backdrop, branded ski-lodge details or adaptations to an existing installation.
Our role is to combine those elements into one coherent scheme rather than treating them as separate items on a hire list.
Turning a concept into a workable event
A strong event proposal has to work operationally as well as visually.
Alongside the styling, we are considering installation time, access, delivery, power requirements, guest flow, safety, venue restrictions and how the space needs to function during the event.
That is why our proposals often include a combination of photographs, reference imagery, concept visuals and a proposed layout.
For planners and agencies, this makes it much easier to understand where the main styling moments will sit and how the concept will work across the venue before installation begins.
Après Ski styling for London and Essex events
Après Ski continues to be one of the most adaptable Christmas party themes because it can move in several directions.
It can feel rustic and traditional, contemporary and minimal, or more theatrical and immersive depending on the brief.
For corporate Christmas parties, brand events and venue celebrations, we tend to favour a balance: enough winter styling to transform the atmosphere, with strong feature areas and carefully considered details rather than excessive decoration.
Rock The Day provides Christmas event styling, prop hire and bespoke event décor across London and Essex, working with corporate clients, venues, event planners and agencies.
If you are currently developing a Christmas event brief, even at an early stage, we can help shape the visual direction and suggest the elements that will make the strongest impact within the space.
